FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When and where do I pay for the Introduction Programme?
HvA students
: You don't have to worry about the payment at all. HvA will pay it for you and will take care of it. Note: you still have to register in person at the registration day! This is Thursday the 28th of January at Oudemanhuispoort 4. Follow the ISN signs inside. Depending on your group number, you have to be there from 9.30-10.30h (group number 1-13) or between 10.30-12.00h (group number 14-25).

UvA students: You will have to pay the €40,- fee in cash or by debit or credit card at the desk during the registration day. There is no option to pay for the Introduction on the ISN website! The registration day is Thursday the 28th of January at Oudemanhuispoort 4. Follow the ISN signs inside. Depending on your group number, you have to be there from 9.30-10.30h (group number 1-13) or between 10.30-12.00h (group number 14-25).

Is there a reduced price if I can't participate during the full three days of the programme?
HvA students:
No. You don't have to worry about this, since you don't have to pay the participation fee.

UvA students: No. Under no circumstances can ISN provide you with a reduction to the participation fee.

The ISN Introduction Programme interferes with other obligations that I have. Can I miss out on some activities?
The Introduction is specifically designed for students who are new to Amsterdam, and therefore offers a variety of activities to get to know the city a bit better. During these three days, two students who have been living in Amsterdam for at least a year, will be assigned to you as your coaches. Although you will miss out on some great activities and on the bonding that usually happens between the group members, if absolutely necessary, you are allowed to fulfill other duties during these days. Remember to contact your coaches about your time of absence and contact them when you're done and want to get back to the programme. Your coaches are your first contactperson in Amsterdam during the Introduction. They can tell you all about the details of the programme and you can make agreements with them about where and when to meet up with your group again.

I haven't received a confirmation email as to whether my registration for the Introduction has succeeded. What should I do?
If you haven't received a confirmation email about your registration for the Introduction, but you have tried to register through this website, you will have to go to the registration day on Thursday the 28th of January at 9.30. Follow the ISN signs inside to Oudemanhuispoort 4. Your registration will be taken care of that day, so you will find out who your coaches are, and meet your fellow group members.

Does ISN provide a Pick-Up Service?
No. ISN doesn't provide a Pick-Up Service. Depending on whether one of your coaches would be available to pick you up from the airport, you can arrange a meeting. You have to contact your coaches and work out with them whether they have time and are willing to make this arrangement with you.
But don't underestimate yourself: it's very easy to go to Amsterdam Central Station from Schiphol Airport. And from Amsterdam Central Station you can easily go to DeKey/SSF Office to collect the keys to your room. See Upon Arrival, Key Directions for a detailed description.
